Mojo Rawley vs. Bull Dempsey
What a way to start a show. Rob Gronkowski is in the crowd. Dempsey, despite no entrance, starts off in control. Mojo makes a comeback, hits his 3 moves and one of the weakest finishers in wrestling for the victory. This felt like the only reason it was here was to show off Gronk. As I am typing that, Mojo runs in the crowd to celebrate with him.
Match Rating: 1/4*
CJ Parker is backstage for an interview and makes fun of Mojo.
Tyler Breeze vs. Sami Zayn
As Zayn is coming down to the ring, he is attacked by Corey Graves. They do a concussion angle after Graves threw him into the ring post, which seems kind of tone deaf.
Sheamus is here and he is interrupted by Aiden English. They are the main event tonight.
Adam Rose vs. Camacho
I do have to give Rose credit for completely reinventing himself with this character. After some goofing around from Rose, Camacho goes on the attack. Camacho mocks him and Rose snaps. Rose hits a bronco buster and then a spinebuster. He hits a running lariat and that is all. The NXT crowd absolutely loves Rose.
Match Rating: 3/4*
Sasha Banks vs. Bayley
Bayley gets a hold of Sasha's sunglasses and mocks her. Meanwhile, on the outside Charlotte and Natalya have some words. Sasha hits a dropkick to the back of Bayley and then mocks here in return. Bayley gets dumped outside. Charlotte approaches her, but Natalya is there to stop her. As Bayley goes in the ring, Charlotte gets in a cheap shot on Natalya. Sasha tries to roll up Bayley, but she rolls through and steals the victory. They continue to shortchange the women's division here on NXT with short matches. This was another one where the finish came out of nowhere.
Match Rating: 3/4*
Next week's card features Bo Dallas vs. Adrian Neville, Charlotte vs. Natalya, Xavier Woods vs. Tyler Breeze and CJ Parker vs. Mojo Rawley.
Aiden English vs. Sheamus
Sheamus insults English some more and then does some singing. English knocks Sheamus from behind and through the ropes. English starts off aggressive, but it only angers Sheamus. Sheamus hits the 10 clubbing blows to the chest, but English is able to avoid the Brogue Kick. Sheamus dominates through the commercial break, but English is able to make a quick comeback. William Regal lets us know about his man crush on English. English puts on the sleeper hold for a bit. Sheamus gets out and has an offensive explosion. Sheamus nails the Brogue Kick and that is all. I would have liked to have seen the match feature English a little bit more than him having a sleeper hold on for half of his offense. This was mildly decent, but nothing more.
Match Rating: *3/4
This wasn't a bad episode by any means, but it certainly isn't one that you are going to remember in a few weeks either. I would say that this was the definition of a filler episode.
