Mr. McMahon is here to kick off the show and he wants to know if he is going to hell. He says that he isn't because he's been to hell and it was east St. Louis. He practices McMahonism and says that the crowd will worship him. He then shows himself in pictures of different slides of different religions and the crowd starts chanting "boring". This segment goes on and on until Shawn Michaels sneaks in and hits Sweet Chin Music on him to save us from this.
They show Vince backstage and Triple H tells him that maybe he should lay off the God stuff. Vince tells him that tonight Triple H will take on Edge and John Cena.
Rob Conway is in the ring and says that he has had enough. He says that the next person who disrespects him will be dealt with. Out comes Kane.
Rob Conway vs. Kane
Kane hits a few moves and then the chokeslam and that's it. It takes a lot for me to care about anything Kane does and a match with Conway is not one. After the match he grabs Lilian Garcia by the throat and yells at her for May 19th. Big Show's music hits and Kane throws her to the ground. Kane grabs Show by the throat, but he returns the favor and he hits him with a chokeslam.

They show the Chavo Guerrero video package and we are now with Chavo and Jim Ross for a sit down interview. Chavo says that he is going to stick to retirement and become a realtor.
Coach is in the ring and announces Shelton Benjamin to the ring and announces his partner. It's none other than former tag team partner, Charlie Haas.
Shelton Benjamin vs. Charlie Haas
Haas comes out hot and clotheslines Shelton over the top rope. Benjamin turns things around with a clothesline of his own and throws Haas into the steps. Shelton mocks RVD and hits the Rolling Thunder. Shelton hits the splash in the corner and then a kick to the back of the head. Shelton is being extra cocky and leaps up on the top rope. He rolls through on the splash, but Haas scores a victory with a pinfall out of nowhere. This was a fun little segment that I don't think anyone was expecting to ever happen.

Vince is in his office icing his face and in walks Armando Alejandro Estrada and he says that he believes in McMahonism. He offers to make a donation by having Umaga face Shawn Michaels tonight. Vince agrees and says that it's next. Shelton walks out next and he needs help. He doesn't want to defend his title at Backlash. McMahon says he may have an idea.
Umaga vs. Shawn Michaels
Well, I guess they're throwing Umaga right in the mix to see how well he does here. Umaga dominates early and out comes Mr. McMahon. Umaga misses with the butt in the corner and Michaels hits two forearms to get Umaga down. Michaels goes for Sweet Chin Music, but McMahon grabs his leg. Umaga gets Michaels in the tree of woe and hits a diving headbutt. He keeps the attack going, but Umaga pushes the referee away as he's trying to stop him. That's enough for a DQ and Umaga keeps the beatdown going. Vince grabs the microphone and tells Umaga to leave because he is going to finish this himself. Michaels is tied up in the ropes and Vince goes to grab a chair. As he tries to walk back in the ring, some pyro goes off and scares Vince off. When Vince gets up to the top of the ramp, fire is lit all over the stage. Yes, this was a dumb as it sounded. The match was pretty good though.
Match Rating: **
They show Vince driving out of the arena during the break.
Matt Striker is here for his little classroom gimmick. He rips on the live crowd and then out comes Carlito. Carlito said he cared more about being cool than school because his teachers were stupid. He threatens to spit an apple in his faceand does, which causes a brawl. Out comes Chris Masters and he puts him in the Master Lock.
Rob Van Dam vs. Spirit Squad
RVD takes out all five opponents early on, but they eventually pounce on him. The Spirit Squad hits their five man move (did this ever have a name?) and a Kenny top rope leg drop for the quick victory. Cool.

Trish is with Maria and she's dressed up as Mickie James. When we come back from commercial, there's a big present in the middle of the ring and out comes Trishie James. She calls out Mickie and tells her she has a surprise for her. Mickie doesn't want the present, but Trish says she is going to anyways. It's Trish's ex-boyfriend Jeff, who is tied to a chair. Trish tells her that if you really are Trish, then this would matter. But if not, she will realize that she isn't actually Trish. Mickie hesitates and then runs in and says that's her boyfriend. Trish beats her down and that's all. Mickie then checks on Jack and then yells at Jack for cheating on her. She gives him a Mick Kick and yells at him. This was all really flat and just lame.
Triple H walks up to Edge and Lita and they talk some trash.
They show a clip of Kane earlier tonight and run down the Backlash card.
Edge & John Cena vs. Triple H
Triple H attacks Cena and we are underway. Say what you will about this era, but you have to love these crowd reactions that Cena was getting. Cena makes a comeback and it's Five Knuckle Shuffle time, but Triple H hits a spinebuster. In comes Edge and he cheap shots Cena. Triple H hits a spinebuster on him and a knee to the face. Edge comes back with a spin kick, but then Cena attacks Edge. Tripe H goes for the Pedigree. Cena counters it into a FU, but Triple H escapes and he pushes him into the referee. Out goes Triple H to get the sledgehammer and nails Cena with it. Edge hits him with a Spear and gets the pinfall victory. The ending felt a little rushed, but this was an entertaining TV main event. Plus, Edge needed the extra credibility and this was the best way they could give it to him this close to Backlash.
Match Rating: **1/4
This show was pretty lousy. The storylines are just all over the place and outside of the main event, none of them are good. The McMahon/Michaels story just sucks the life out of the whole show and even the Mickie/Trish stuff is just flat. This is a filler episode at best.
